Extraordinary Legacy Award honors Michels Canada's safety performance

Whenever we accept a project, we see it as an opportunity to demonstrate our core value of safety as the cornerstone of our culture. When our customers recognize our commitment, we swell with pride.
Congratulations to our people who work on the Coastal GasLink (CGL) project in the Burns Lake area of northern British Columbia for receiving the Extraordinary Legacy Award for Health and Safety from our customer, CGL and TC Energy. The award was presented to Michels Canada in recognition of our crews’ commitment to CGL’s core values of safety and respect for all people, communities and the environment.
Large-scale energy infrastructure construction projects are complicated operations involving hundreds of people and pieces of heavy equipment working in careful coordination to create a safe, efficient work environment. We thank our crews, project leaders and HSEQ professionals for having met or exceeded all of CGL’s safety metrics for 2022, including a very commendable achievement of having no lost-time injuries on the project. Congratulations to all!
“This award supports Michels Canada’s outstanding safety culture which we strive to maintain and enhance every day at all of our jobsites, shops and offices,” said Dean Cowling, president, Michels Canada.
Michels Canada was recognized as the Gold Winner for Canada’s Best Health & Safety Culture in the Canada’s Safest Employers Awards in 2021 and 2022.
