Michels Canada safety program stays country’s best 

Michels Canada is honored to be named the Gold Winner for Canada’s Best Health and Safety Culture for the second consecutive year. The recognition, presented on Oct. 20 during the 2022 Canada’s Safest Employers Awards program, is the result of our commitment to our first Core Value: Safety is the cornerstone of our culture. 

“Receiving this award in consecutive years demonstrates the strength, stability and continuous advancement of our safety culture,” said Shannon Caron, Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality. “I congratulate and thank my colleagues for their role in this great honor. Every person on the Michels Canada team, regardless of role, tenure or work location, plays a critical role in delivering our work safely.”

The WSIB Award for Canada’s Best Health and Safety Culture is presented annually to the organization with the strongest health and safety culture in the country. Michels Canada’s safety culture starts with the support of the Michels family and senior leadership and extends to all employees. Safety programs including a universal Stop Work Promise, specialized training programs, and an expectation for all employees to guard the health and safety of themselves and those around them. 

“We are very proud to receive a national award recognizing our safety culture,” said Dean Cowling, President, Michels Canada. “Winning this honor for a second consecutive year does not mean we have achieved our goal; rather, it inspires us to continuously improve our safety culture and the systems, policies and standards that support our culture.”
