Serving up community support
Michels Canada donates $19,000 to nutritional snacks program
Michels Canada cooked up some community goodwill by turning an employee appreciation barbecue into a $19,000 donation to a program that provides nutritional snacks and lunches to underprivileged children in the Vancouver area.
Michels invited the firefighters who run the Coquitlam Firefighters Charitable Society to cook dinner for everyone who is working on the Coastal Transmission System (CTS) pipeline construction project in the area. The burgers, smokies, Caeser salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, brownies, cookies and beverages hit the spot with crews from Michels and our project partners. When the prepared food proved to be more than needed, the leftovers were packed up and donated to the 3030 Gordon Project, a local homeless and transitional housing shelter.
In addition to making a donation in appreciation for cooking at the barbecue, Michels is sponsoring the Coquitlam Firefighters Charitable Society’s gala in October. When combined, they became a meaningful donation for an important community program!
