Michels Canada is a partner in the design-bid-build project for the 6.3-metre diameter Coxwell Bypass Tunnel. The 10.5km tunnel is the first project in the city of Toronto’s Wet Weather Flow Master Plan that will virtually prevent combined sewer overflows from entering Lake Ontario and the Don River.

The tunnel is being mined through shale bedrock 50 metres below surface and lined with precast concrete segments. The tunnel and tunnel boring machine are accessed by five major shafts and 12 drop shafts.
