Scope

Michels was the prime contractor for the Jervis Forcemain project. A roadheader machine, which is not widely used in North America, was utilized successfully on this job. Initial supports were constructed with steel ribs and wood boards.

Construction consisted of a 305-metre horseshoe tunnel with a diameter of 1800 millimetres, a cast-in-place junction chamber, a live sewer tie-in, and a 1200-millimetre diameter sewer installed beneath a very busy arterial roadway.

Projects

Michels Canada completed a 117-metre long, 2,121-mm diameter tunnel as an outfall for a new wastewater treatment plant on Vancouver Island.
