Michels was the prime contractor for the Jervis Forcemain project. A roadheader machine, which is not widely used in North America, was utilized successfully on this job. Initial supports were constructed with steel ribs and wood boards.Construction consisted of a 305-metre horseshoe tunnel with a diameter of 1800 millimetres, a cast-in-place junction chamber, a live sewer tie-in, and a 1200-millimetre diameter sewer installed beneath a very busy arterial roadway.
